Roof Leak Repair in East Haddam
Challenge
This home in East Haddam had multiple leaks coming from the rear roof. The soffit had been removed to get a better look at the leaking area. The damage was serious. Water had penetrated the shingles, underlayment, and had damaged the plywood underneath. Along with the roof, the owners also needed new gutters, gutter guards, and fascia boards!
Solution
The area was repaired with spare shingles that the owner had and new plywood in a 12 by 14-foot area. Once the plywood and shingles were replaced, the new composite fascia board and aluminum gutters and gutter guards were installed. When the old shingles failed to keep the water out, the job was revisited right away. So the entire back roof was replaced with new Owens Corning shingles, Ice & Water Barrier, and Synthetic Underlayment. Many times it is very difficult to isolate a leak and often not repairable. Here at Klaus Larsen, we have the experience to inform homeowners whether the job can be repaired or if the entire roof is compromised.
