Clayton Chalfant is a 92 year old WWII Veteran, who resides in Westport, CT with his high school sweetheart and wife of 69 years. Their modest home was originally built by Clayton's father-in-law in the early 1950s. Their financial obligations had become difficult to manage, and they had been living with assistance from the Veterans Administration. Their roof was over 20 years old, and showing many signs of wear including cracked and curling shingles. It had been repaired a few times by family members, following both Hurricane's Sandy & Irene, however the roof was in dire need of replacement.
On Veteran's Day Weekend 2016, Klaus Larsen Roofing teamed up with the Westport Fire Department to install a new roof for Clayton and his wife, as a part of Klaus Larsen's 'Santa Klaus Project.'
