Roof Replacement and Repair in Marlborough, CT
Challenge
It was a pleasure working on this lake-house in full view of tranquil Lake Terramuggus, in Marlborough, CT. This project was unique in how different sections of the roof were varying ages and conditions. In total, the roof was in six sections (not including the garage). The homeowner had reported concerns with increasing leaking, centralized around the rear of the house. Leaking can result from a number of culprits, including clogged gutters, curling shingles and improperly installed skylights. When the shingles were only fifteen years old, as they were on this Marlborough house, repair and maintenance are usually preferred over a total overhaul. Here we were able to preserve the areas of the roof that were in working order, while restoring what was malfunctioning.
Solution
Owens Corning materials are designed to keep the inside of homes dry. The majority of the house had a new roofing system installed, made up of OC True Def Duration Driftwood shingles, four rows of Ice & Water shield and synthetic underlayment. In total, we installed four new skylights and made sure they were totally sealed at their frames. The finishing touches included a new paint job on the fascia behind newly installed aluminum seamless gutters. Now any swimming will have to be reserved for the lake.
