Roof Repair & Replacement in Glastonbury, CT
Challenge
We first met this customer in Glastonbury, CT as part of our 'Klaus Bucks' referral program. They were referred by a past customer with a Klaus Buck, and both received a $100 Visa gift-card for being part of the program. The roof here was only 12 years old, but had severe leaking and damage. Premature failure such as this is usually due to a combination of poor grade materials and improper installation methods. We also found, during our evaluation of the roof, that there was very evident water damage in the attic, with delaminated plywood.
Solution
The first step was tearing off and removing one layer of shingles, which we recycled at the Asphalt Roof Recycling Center in Stratford, CT. We then replaced any rotted plywood, but only where needed, as there were still healthy areas which did not need to be removed. A portion of the chimney flashing was replaced with lead flashing to prevent leaking in that area. There were existing gable vents, which were functioning properly, that we bolstered with a ridge vent. Upon completion of this job, we ensured that the entire property was left clean and free of any roofing materials. The shingle color we used here was Onyx Black.
