Rotted Deck Replacement in Glastonbury, CT
Challenge
When we came and inspected this home, we found that the roof deck had old tongue & groove boards underneath the shingles. The boards were all rotten or damaged and needed to be replaced. However, plywood is not as thick as tongue & groove boards. The difference in height would be noticeable all around the perimeter of the roof.
Solution
First, we removed the rotten boards and install all new 1/2" CDX plywood on the rafters. Then we trimmed all the eave and rake boards 1/4" to be flush with the new deck. Once that was done, the new Ice & Water barrier and synthetic underlayment could go on. We finished the roof with Owens Corning Duration shingles. Color Brownwood.
