Old Cedar Shakes to New Asphalt Architectural Shingles in Deep River
Challenge
This old Colonial style home located in Deep River, CT had 2 layers of existing cedar shakes on the roof (3 layers on some parts of the roof) and needed a full roof replacement. The existing cedar shakes were flaking off and causing issues on the interior of the home.
Solution
To keep the structural integrity of the roof we stripped the multiple cedar shake layers off and installed new plywood decking over the existing structural framing. Then, we laid down Owens Corning Ice & Water Shield and ProArmor Synthetic Underlayment to protect the home from outside moisture. For new asphalt shingles, we used Owens Corning Duration TruDefinition Shingles in the color Driftwood. In addition, we installed a new VentSure Ridge Vent to provide top-notch consistent attic ventilation to the home. To ensure peace of mind to the homeowner, this brand new roofing system comes with a 50-Year Limited Lifetime Warranty.
