Roof Replacement in Glastonbury, CT
Challenge
The homeowner of this colonial in Glastonbury, CT called Klaus Larsen to see what could be done for a small leak. There was a plumbing vent through the roof which seemed to be causing the leak. The roof was about 20+ years old and there was ice damming over the back door. There was no ice and water shield so it was easier for water to collect and run into the interior of the home. The owner was looking for advice to ensure that any leaking could be prevented in the future.
Solution
The homeowers decided that instead of repairing the damage done by the leaking, the whole roof would be replaced. The Klaus Larsen crew installed an ice and water shield after removing and replacing the damaged plywood decking. Three rows of Owens Corning Weatherlock G Ice & Water was installed for extra protection. 5 skylights were reflashed with custom flashing, instead of replacing them. The whole roof and the reflashing of the skylights was done in one day.
