In Hartford, CT, this Greek Orthodox Cathedral was starting to show its age. The 20-year-old roof had developed leaks, and years of wear and tear were taking a toll. Keeping the church safe and dry was becoming a real concern. On top of that, the old gutter system wasn’t cutting it anymore. The gutters were struggling with the water, and also didn’t do much for the building’s look anymore either. It was clear the church needed a fresh start to tackle these issues and protect their beautiful space for the future.
Solution
To address the roof’s leaks and aging condition, we installed a ProVia Metal Roofing System in the beautiful color Sandalwood. This new roof not only eliminates the risk of leaks but also provides long-term protection against wear and tear. To resolve the issue with the outdated gutter system, we installed brand-new gutters while adding a fresh new look to the church’s exterior. With these upgrades, the cathedral is now fully protected and looks better than ever! Follow along through the gallery to see each step of the process!
This photo captures the church's roof before the replacement. With a leak on the right side and worn 20-year-old shingles, it was clear this stunning building needed an upgrade.
The first step in the replacement process is stripping off the old roofing materials. To ensure the church's beautiful walls and glass windows are protected, the crew sets up large tarps around the building to catch any flying debris.
At this stage, the crew has removed the old shingles and replaced any rotted or damaged plywood with fresh new boards. Next, they apply SealoronXT Deck Tape and SealoronXT Ice & Water Seal, both of which play a key role in protecting the wood and preventing leaks.
This photo shows the VeloraOne Roof Underlayment now in place, fully covering the roof deck. You can also see the crew starting to install the ProVia Metal Shake Style Roofing System in the color Sandalwood.
Here's another photo of the metal roofing system being installed. As you can see, this is a meticulous project, and we take every precaution to protect the church, including using tarps to protect the building throughout the process.
The final result! The stunning ProVia Metal Roof not only enhances the church's appearance but will also protect it for years to come.
