This church in Coventry, CT had two long sections of roof that needed to be replaced. The roof on the sanctuary was only 10 years old but the rest was 20 years old. The older sections totaled to over 115,000 square feet of old 3-tab shingles. The project was well within our crew’s ability. Our crews have installed hundreds of residential roofs and many church roofs as well. The entire project was started on a Monday and completed by Wednesday. Replacing the roof included replacing any damaged plywood, installing a new ridge vent, new chimney flashing, and new bathroom vent boots. The roof was done in Owens Corning Duration shingles in the color Estate Gray. At this home in Coventry, the roof was in an awful shape. The bathroom vents were pointed into the soffits and the plywood was water damaged and covered in mold. Our crew arrived early in the morning and began tearing off the roof. Several pieces of plywood were ripped off and thrown away. Next, new vent holes were cut in the plywood and new bathroom fan vents installed. After that, the new plywood was brought up and installed onto the rafters. When the roof deck was finished, Ice & Water barrier was laid down nine feet up the roof. Above the Ice & Water, the ProArmor Synthetic underlayment was put down underneath the shingles. Lastly, comes the Owens Corning 50-year shingle. The system of layers we put down will protect this home for many years to come.
