We previously installed a new roof on his last home, so when he purchased a new house with a 30-year-old roof, he knew exactly who to call. At Klaus Larsen, we take pride in delivering the best for our customers. When we stripped down Lou's old roof, we replaced any rotting or damaged boards with fresh Klaus Plywood, ensuring a strong foundation for the new roof. To protect this base, we applied several layers of seals to keep the plywood in top condition and safeguard his home.

First, we used Sealoron XT Deck Tape to secure the plywood boards while allowing for breathability between them. This tape is the first line of defense, preventing water from seeping through any gaps. Next, we applied Sealoron XT Ice & Water Shield to the edges and vulnerable areas of the roof, providing extra protection where it’s needed most. Finally, the Velora One Roof Underlayment was installed across the remaining surface, adding a crucial barrier between the shingles and the plywood.

For the finishing touch, Lou chose IKO Dynasty shingles in Granite Black—the best in the industry—to complete his home's fresh, modern look.

February this year has brought both warm and cold weather and with it Ice Dams. When your home start leaking because of Ice dams, you cannot afford to wait for the spring. These owners in Southington had just such a situation and needed the leak fixed immediately. Our Crew arrived early in the morning of the 22nd and stripped of the old shingles. They then installed nine feet of Ice & Water barrier up the roof and covered the rear dormer with it. We provide extra protection on dormers due to the low slope. For very low pitched dormers we sometimes install Flat roofing. Above the Ice & Water barrier went the ProArmor Synthetic underlayment. Next came the Onyx Black Duration shingle. The shingles come in three types. Starter shingles, the shingles, and hip and ridge shingles. During the project, we replaced bathroom vents and the chimney flashing.
