This unique Craftsman Contemporary home in Middletown, CT had ice dams that were getting increasingly worse near the facade of the structure. Three rows of ice & water shield will protect the structure from future water damage and a new OC VentSure ridge vent will deter them from forming in the first place. These, along with new asphalt shingles, work together as a harmonious roofing system.
Here was a multi-family home located in Middletown, CT. It was built circa 1900 and the roof was replaced 25 years ago. The time had come for a replacement, with two valleys being worn down and water leaking into an upstairs apartment. Victorian homes like this one often pose a challenge, with the extra steep pitch. The work done here was guaranteed with our Owens Corning Life Time 50 Year Full Coverage Warranty.
Here was a really neat house located right on a beautiful marshland in Old Saybrook, CT. We first removed the siding on the left side of the full dormer, inspected for rotted plywood and replaced it as needed. Then we constructed a small cricket to eliminate the blind valley, followed by Ice & Water shield over the entire cricket. New step flashing was installed, which is the optimal method of really keeping water out. Instead of having one linear piece where the shingles meet the siding, there is continuous material that acts to 'back up' each piece if one fails.
The roof on this Middletown, CT home was close to 20 years old and had been deteriorating badly, with leaking that had been going down the interior of the siding. We began the project by tearing off the old materials, and sending them to a facility in Stratford, CT where they are ground up into asphalt for paving roads. We also made sure to carefully take down a satellite dish that had been on the roof. As a base for the new shingles, we adhered Owens Corning ProArmor Synthetic Underlayment, which is a highly durable, tear-resistant material engineered to repel water. The siding on this home is no longer compromised by a faulty roofing system.
This job was unique in that it was a home that was renovated into an office. The roof had 3-tab shingles that were curling and allowing water to enter. It was only necessary to replace the main roof and not the wrap around porch. Color: Estate Gray
