Mystic, CT Roof Replacement

A beautiful home in Mystic, CT was due for a roof replacement after the flashing, vent boot, and roof needed a lot of TLC.

Colonial Roof Replacement in Mystic, CT

At this late 1930s Colonial-style home located in Mystic, CT we installed a brand new roof using the Kluas Roofing Way. The homeowners had just replaced their roof in 2010. However, because of improper installation and poor quality products, they needed to completely strip and re-roof their home. When we arrived at the home we first begin tearing off the old shingles. We replaced any damaged plywood decking and laid down Ice & Water Shield to protect the interior of the home. In addition, we installed underlayment to adhere to the roofing surface and repel any outside moisture. For shingles, we used architectural-style asphalt shingles in the color Onyx Black. To top it off, we installed new lead chimney flashing from around each of the chimneys on the house. This brand new roof comes with a 50-year Warranty and Klaus Larsen Workmanship Warranty so the homeowner no longer has to worry about their roof.

Mystic, CT Roof Replacement

This beautiful home in Mystic, CT, is owned by Steve, whose roof, though not leaking, was nearing 30 years old! That's a long time for a roof, and the before photo showed black marks and weathering, indicating that it was time for a replacement to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the home.

To transform this roof, our crew undertook an intensive process that not only gave the home a sleek, refreshed look but also provided a durable roof that will protect against leaks and issues for decades to come.

When installing the anti-leak barriers, we at Klaus Larsen Roofing use three different types of sheets. The first is Sealoron XT Deck Tape, a flexible tape that allows the wooden plywood boards to breathe while covering the gaps between them, ensuring no water infiltrates your home.

Next, we apply two different underlayments. The first is the Sealoron XT Ice & Water barrier, which keeps all water out by covering the most vulnerable areas of the roof, including all edges (with a width of 6 feet), eaves, and valleys. This membrane protects these areas from wind-driven rain and water damage.

Lastly, the Velora One Roof Underlayment is installed over the rest of the fresh decking, creating a protective layer between the shingles and the decking. This extremely durable layer guards your roof against the damaging effects of wind-driven rain and water vapor. Even in the most severe weather, it will protect your home if exposed due to a shingle flying off—though that’s unlikely with IKO Dynasty shingles, which come with a 130 MPH wind warranty!

Steve chose the shingle color Granite Black to top off his home.
