This single-family home in New Britain was in need of a new roof and sought Klaus Larsen Roofing to handle the job. We started by tearing off 1 layer of existing roofing materials and replacing 5 layers of damaged plywood decking. Next, we installed 3 rows of Ice & Water Barrier on the front roof and installed a Flex Ice & Water Barrier on the entire rear roof. In terms of shingles, we installed gray asphalt to give this home a fresh new look. Lastly, we installed a VentSure Ridge Vent to provide top-notch consistent attic ventilation. This amazing home just got better thanks to Klaus Larsen!
John reached out to us with the nicest review. Telling us here at Klaus Larsen Roofing how happy he was with how professional the guys that were and the outstanding work that was done to his home. He was so happy with the work that was done on his home that he is recommending us to his friends and family.
Once algae starts to grow on the north facing side of your roof, it's difficult to stop the spores from spreading. The dark streaks are mostly cosmetic, but in time they will join forces with lichen to thrive off the limestone in your asphalt shingles. This weakens the shingle, and eventually deteriorates the entire roof. We gave this New Britain, CT home a fresh start with architectural-style asphalt shingles. Klaus also recommends using zinc strips down the line, to really keep those spores away.
A home in New Britain was due for a new roof since the home had the same roof from when the home was built in 1978.
This modern 1990s colonial style home needed a new full roof replacement. We first stripped the entire old roof and hauled the old shingles to a recycling plant to be made into asphalt roads. There was ample damaged plywood decking that needed replacing as well as re-securing with ring-shank plywood nails. Then, we laid down Owens Corning Weatherlock G Ice & Water from all eaves, valleys, chimneys, skylights, and roof/wall intersections to ensure that no moisture passes through the roof and into the home. Then, we installed Started Shingles along the entire outside perimeter of the roof and followed with Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Shingles in the color Estate Gray. This home also had a large chimney on the side of the house which needed new lead flashing.
