Nathan from Waterford, CT, inherited a home with an uncertain roof age, but he could tell it needed some attention. After a free inspection, we determined that a full roof replacement was necessary—a Klaus Larsen specialty! We started by stripping away the old, damaged shingles to get a clear view of the underlying plywood boards. Each board was thoroughly inspected, and any that showed signs of damage were replaced with fresh, sturdy wood. Next, we applied three layers of anti-weather barriers, designed to prevent any water from seeping into the decking and causing leaks or damage. With the roof fully prepped, we installed IKO Dynasty shingles in the sleek Granite Black color. These industry-leading shingles feature built-in algae resistance, ensuring the roof stays free of those unsightly dark marks and spots for years to come.
Thanks to this thorough process, Nathan’s home is now protected and looking better than ever! Put a Klaus on Your House!
Installing a full roof on this Victorian house in Willimantic was a great honor and privilege for us. The complex style of architecture along with the turret required a highly proficient roofing company, and we were happy to oblige. All of the plywood needed to be removed and replaced, as part of a complete overhaul. We've worked on residential turrets before, so we were prepared with the experience needed to effectively roof a conical structure in a timely and proficient manner. This job had a remarkable outcome and the home is a lot closer to being fully restored. It is one more piece of Connecticut history that we have both protected and rejuvenated.
Here was a Willimantic Victorian, with two apartments under one roof. Tenants were experiencing some leaking, and the landlord called Klaus Larsen to determine the cause of the problem. We consistently advise staying away from using 3-tab shingles, which lay side by side and are non-dimensional. They typically blur the line between an inexpensive and 'cheap' product. This roof was replaced with Duration architectural shingles, with Mule Hide purpose made flat roofing on the front shed roof deck.
This homeowner in Willimantic had a roof that was 30 years old and it had no plywood underneath. All new plywood deck had to be installed before the new Duration Desert Tan shingles could be put on. Call or contact us today to receive a free price estimate for your next roofing project.
This single-family home in Willimantic was in need of a roof replacement. To start, we tore off one layer of existing roofing material and installed a new plywood deck over the existing structural framing of the roof. In accordance with the new building code requirements, we taped all roof joints with self-adhering flashing tape. We then installed a synthetic underlayment to all areas of the roof that does not have an ice & water barrier. In terms of shingles, we installed a Klaus Larsen Roofing System with IKO Cambridge architectural Shingles in the color Weatherwood. We finished the job by removing and replacing the existing chimney flashing with brand new lead flashing.
