New Roof, Cupola and Skylights in Chester, CT

This was a strip and re-shingle in Chester, CT for a recently purchased home. The original roof had sustained a great deal of damage from power washing. We do not recommend power washing as it can remove shingle granules and void preexisting insurance policies. Klaus Larsen recycled all of the old asphalt and installed a full Owens Corning Roofing System in Slatestone Gray TruDefinition Duration shingles. We also added an all new plywood deck over a dining room addition and rebuilt the skylight curb. The cupola recieved custom flashing, with SmartVent panels incorporated around its base, for ventilation. The homeowner was extremely satisfied with the work, and excited to make a home under their completely restored roof!

Roof Replacement in Chester, CT

Grant and Karen, proud owners of a beautiful home in Chester, CT, knew it was time for an upgrade. Their 26-year-old asphalt shingle roof had a history of leaks around the vent pipe, and they were unsure about the durability of their chimney flashing. With plans to install solar panels, they wanted a solid, reliable roof to ensure long-term protection.

At Klaus Larsen Roofing, we began by removing the old shingles, gaining access to the plywood decking so we could inspect and replace any damaged areas. The deck was then securely re-nailed with 8d ring-shank nails, specifically designed to stay put, giving the roof an extra layer of durability. Next, we upgraded their chimney and skylight flashing, addressing their concerns about leaks and preparing their home for the new roof.

To protect the most vulnerable areas, we applied the Sealoron XT Ice & Water barrier along the edges and valleys, and the VeloraOne Roof Underlayment was used across the rest of the roof to ensure a waterproof seal. With all new flashing in place and every corner fortified, we topped it off with IKO Dynasty shingles—a heavy-duty product designed to withstand winds up to 130 MPH. These heavy-duty shingles ensure Grant and Karen's home is ready to face even the harshest New England weather while adding a fresh, vibrant look.

Now, their home is not only protected for years to come but also prepped for their upcoming solar panel installation. At Klaus Larsen Roofing, we don’t just replace roofs—we deliver peace of mind, craftsmanship, and long-term value. Just ask Grant and Karen!
