This West Hartford, CT Colonial had three layers of deteriorated shingles that needed to be removed and replaced with a new roofing system. We always recommend starting with a fresh layer, as opposed to covering up asphalt and plywood that have been compromised by moisture. Though layering shingles was once a common practice, standards have changed drastically, and multiple layers can often hinder a home's chances of getting insurance or being sold on the market. This homeowner was in need of a new roof on their garage. After tearing off one layer of existing roofing materials, we replaced all sheets of damaged plywood decking. We then installed 2 rows of TriBuilt ice & water near all roof eaves, valleys, chimneys etc. In accordance with the building code requirements, we sealed all roof joints with flashing tape. We installed a Klaus Larsen Roofing System with IKO Cambridge Shingles with Charcoal Grey. We finished the job by installing purpose-made Hip and Ridge Shingles on all ridges and hips of the roof.
