To start the roof replacement process we tore off one layer of roofing materials and installed a new plywood roof deck to the existing structural framing. We then installed two rows of ice & water barrier near all roof eaves, valleys, chimneys, etc. We also installed a synthetic underlayment to all sections of the roof that did not get covered by an ice & water barrier, for added protection against leaks and water damage. In terms of shingles, we installed IKO Cambridge Shingles in the color Dual Black. We finished the job by installing 3 brand new exhaust vent hoods on the roof with a built-in damper. This Windsor home was getting persistent ice dams, centralized around the valleys of the roof. Proliferating damage was being done with each winter. To ensure the ice build up would not return, we applied a layer of Ice & Water shield on top of new plywood. We also added ventilation at the ridge, to invite air flow and melt any frozen precipitation. The finished shingles are 'Estate Gray.'
